The Lord's Day Assembly

What to Expect

Our worship is simple and reverent. Here's the approximate order of a Sunday morning assembly.

  1. 1

    Opening announcements & prayer

Around 10:30 AM one of the men says a few words and leads an opening prayer. You'll notice folks quieting down a few minutes beforehand to prepare their minds for worship.

  2. 2

    Song service

Three songs, usually led by different brothers. We sing a cappella — without instruments — following Ephesians 5:19 and Colossians 3:16.

  3. 3

    Sermon introduction & main prayer

The preacher often gives a brief introduction, followed by a longer prayer for the needs of the congregation and others, then usually another song.

  4. 4

    Sermon

A Bible lesson, usually 30–45 minutes.

  5. 5

    Gospel invitation

The preacher explains how the Bible teaches one is to be saved, and an invitation song is sung. Anyone may come forward to obey the gospel or to ask for prayers.

  6. 6

    The Lord's Supper

Observed every Sunday. One loaf of unleavened bread and one cup of fruit of the vine are blessed and passed from person to person, as Jesus did (Matthew 26, Mark 14, Luke 22, 1 Corinthians 11).

  7. 7

    Collection

Christians give as each has purposed in his heart (2 Corinthians 9:6–7). Guests are never expected to give.

  8. 8

    Closing announcements, song & prayer

Then services conclude — and you're welcome to stay and visit.

Children are welcome!

Noisy children are a beautiful sound to our ears — the worst sound in the gathering of the church is no children. Ours make plenty of noise too, so please don't feel uncomfortable. Children worship alongside their parents in the assembly.

Right behind the last row of pews is a cry room where you're welcome to step away for diaper changes, attitude changes, or a quiet moment.

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 19:14 · NKJV
